Water Loss Europe 2017 is being organised by Watercourse Events Limited with the assistance of IWA Fellows and members of the IWA Water Loss Specialist group. 

Malcolm Farley

Malcolm Farley

Malcolm is a chartered engineer (CEng), a chartered environmentalist (CEnv), a Fellow of CIWEM (FCIWEM) and a Chartered Water and Environment Manager (C.WEM). He is a long-standing member of the International Water Association (IWA), and is a member of the management team of the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group (WLSG). He was made an IWA Fellow in 2012 in recognition of his contribution to the Association.

Malcolm has more than 48 years experience of working with water supply and distribution networks worldwide.  He worked for the UK Water Research Centre (WRc) for 25 years, leaving WRc in 1994 to form his own consultancy, Malcolm Farley Associates. Since then he has worked on many non revenue water (NRW) reduction projects with partner associates worldwide.

He is co-author with Stuart Trow of the IWA book - 'Losses in Water Distribution Networks' – A Practitioner’s Guide to Assessment, Monitoring and Control

Stuart Trow

Stuart Trow is a chartered civil engineer who has worked in the UK water industry for 39 years, almost all of which has been involved with technical, operational and maintenance issues of water distribution systems and leakage management. This includes 15 years as technical manager with a water supply company, and then several positions as director of consultancy and contracting companies. Stuart was MD of the UK agency for the Dorot automatic control valve and helped to develop new systems in pressure management and flow control. He also was Business Development Manager for Scottish Water Contracting. He currently operates as an independent consultant undertaking technical and change management projects in the UK and internationally, and is a director of Invenio Systems Ltd. 

Jo Parker

Jo Parker

Jo Parker MBE has worked in the water industry for over 40 years and is director of Watershed Associates Ltd. providing technical and management advice to the utility industry since 2004. Prior to that she worked for a number of UK water companies, covering a variety of engineering and operational roles up to director level. She is an IWA fellow and represents north west Europe on the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group.

 

Bambos Charalambous

Bambos Charalambous

Bambos Charalambous is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Chartered Environmentalist and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. His experience in water related fields spans over 38 years and he has worked on several projects in Europe, Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East.   He has wide experience in urban water distribution network management, including Intermittent Water Supply, Non-Revenue Water and Water Loss Management. From 1995 to 2012 he was heading the Technical Services of the Water Board of Lemesos, a public water utility in Cyprus, with responsibilities over all technical matters, including planning, operation and maintenance of the water supply and distribution systems. Since 2012 he is a NRW and Water Utility Governance consultant and has served internationally on senior consultancy assignments with Water Utilities, IFIs and Water Associations. He is a Fellow of the International Water Association, a former chair of the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group and current Chair of the IWA Intermittent Water Supply Specialist Group.

 

Marco Fantozzi

Marco Fantozzi

Marco Fantozzi is an active member of the Water Loss Specialist Group of the International Water Association (IWA) and a leading consultant in water loss management, specialising in water loss reduction programs in water distribution systems including: water audit, active leakage control, meters replacement policy, pressure management and control, strategy development for water utilities, capacity building and training courses based on best practice methodology and technology. Marco has published a number of papers on issues related to water loss management, participated in many international projects (some of which financed by EC like: Aquaknight, ICeWater, Waterpipe, etc.) regarding implementation of water loss reduction activities and education of water utility employees.

 

Andy Blackhall

Andy Blackhall

Andy Blackhall is Water Demand Manager for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water. He is also a non-executive director of Waterwise. He has also worked for consultancy organisations providing field services for water loss management. Andy has been involved in a number of R&D projects related to water loss control and water efficiency including the Wisdom initiative. 

 

Cor Merks

Cor Merks Cor Merks has 27 years of experience in consulting engineering in the international water industry. One of his specialties is the effective management of Non-Revenue Water. He has working experience with various consulting engineers and water utilities in the Netherlands, Belgium, China, Denmark, Florida, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar, Romania, the United Arab Emirates and for the European Commission DG Environment Unit Water. In 2014, Cor played a leading role in the development of the EU Reference document Good Practices on Leakage Management WFD CIS WG PoM.


Dewi Rogers

Dewi Rogers

Dewi Rogers is a hydraulic engineer by profession and an expert in the application of mathematical models for the rehabilitation of water distribution networks and leakage control. He runs his own consultancy firm in Italy and the UK and has worked on numerous innovative and prestigious projects all over the world, including North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He was the originator of the innovative PALM+ system to define the optimum leakage level in any water network.
